Wallpaper(s), 2023, Fault Radio San Francisco

"Wallpaper(s)" is an exploration of projections on folded surfaces, and how depth in physical space can distort light. The artists create a textured wall surface using folded thick paper mounted to foam core, which is then the subject for projection mapping. Sophie Baker creates unique animated graphics using photo manipulation, vector illustration and animation software. The colorful graphics’ crisp geometric lines show off the distortion from the folded paper. The moving graphics projected on the wall offer an immersive experience, as though sitting in a room with “moving” wallpaper. The artist also reimagines text and iconography as ornamental elements, challenging the viewer's relationship with language and recognizable imagery.

RedGreenBlue , 2023, Lightwav (Sacramento, CA)

Using a combination of custom animation, projection mapping and sculpture, ‘RGB’ reimagines wallpaper as moving, alien-like glitches with hints of the natural world. The piece uses everyday furniture pieces to add depth to the flat geomtric designs, and thus play with the viewer’s perception of space.
The piece slowly flipped between red, green, and blue compositions for the course of the event, Light.wav, in Sacramento, CA.

Cobwebs, 2022, Sunset Halloween Boat (San Francisco, CA)

“Cobwebs” was a piece built for Sunset Soundsystem’s Halloween Boat Party. Nestled around the DJs on the ambient stage, the piece was built with projection mapping, analog TVs, various props and many cobwebs. The artists aimed to create a spooky yet relaxing ambiance for attendees - a cozy living room with a sci-fi twist.
